Thumbsucking & Pillows

So, i was chatting with my classmates after lunch and it somehow drifted to childhood habits like having a particular favorite / special pillow, thumb-sucking, bed-wetting.
this is embarrassing to admit, but er... i managed to kick my thumb-sucking habit only after i got into secondary school. (notice i don't refer to it as a bad habit)

Excerpt from Wikipedia:
"Children suck on objects (including pacifiers) to soothe themselves; sucking is one of a baby’s natural reflexes and completely typical for babies and young children.
Moreover, ultrasound scans have revealed that thumb sucking can start before birth, as early as 15 weeks from conception; whether this behavior is voluntary or due to random movements of the fetus in the womb is not conclusively known."

Some child psychologists consider thumb sucking at age past seven to be a sign of stress and insecurity. This is only true on some cases. While thumb sucking can be a symptom of internal distress, most cases of thumb-sucking are merely conditioning. Thumb-sucking can also affect the shape of the oral cavity or dentition.

But i was lucky this habit of mine didn't rob me of my beautiful straight teeth. Although i'd already kicked this habit, maybe i should consider getting it back since i've been having problems getting to sleep. Who knows if it might work.

But one thing i know for sure, is that my favorite pillow is staying by my side. No sunning nor washing allowed!! Even my Mum dare not do anything to it, so by now you should have an idea how protective i am towards it.

P/S: Diana, if we have a stay-over at your place you'll get the chance to meet my special pillow. *evil laugh*
